Let's Play With Dolls!: Building Fae
Hi everybody! I'm busy with a lot of things so I haven't been able to write blog posts for a very long time, also happy December! I have a few ideas lined up for posts, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to get back on a regular blogging schedule!
This is a new segment of my blog for my doll related posts, because my doll collecting has been really picking up lately.
For this post I will be introducing you to Fae!
Fae is my new doll and I am absolutely taken with her! Do you recognize this doll? It may be hard to guess exactly who she is because she is one of a kind!
Let me explain! Fae has the head of a Moxie Girlz Sophina and the body of an original fully jointed Barbie. You see, I was at the thrift store yesterday and I had a boat load of luck! (I may do a haul soon to show what else I bought.) Just to list a few things, I fell for the sweet face of a Moxie girl Sophina and I picked up a couple of articulated Barbies and some doll accessories. Mostly accessories to fit with an 18in doll because I have been planning on getting one soon, hopefully around Christmas. When I went to check out I was a bit worried because I filled my basket to the top with goodies and I didn't want to spend more than 14 dollars, but SURPRISE all the toys were not only a quarter, but buy one get one free! Though, I was a bit sad that the very cute Sophina doll was naked and had no feet! (I assumed they just had feet like an old Bratz doll, feet attached to the shoes and a peg leg I mean.)
Before I left the thrift store I'd decided I would try something I'd been wanting to try for a long time, a head switch! I was nervous, but with the help of this video Sophina's head popped right off! I had considerably less luck with the Barbie head. I had two bodies and chose the old jointed body over the ballerina jointed body because the skin tone was a closer match and I preferred the flat feet over the molded ballerina shoes. I have no pictures before the head switch because I was too excited to wait and I don't have my own camera.
The jointed Barbie head came off fairly easily, but I split the delicate neck. I thought I could just push the Moxie girl's head down to conceal the split part of the neck, but when I went to put the head on I learned something disappointing, it didn't fit! The peg for the head was far too large for the hole in the Moxie girl's head! I tried as hard as I could to fit on the head, but her neck joint flopped discouragingly, but I'm not one to give up.
I asked Mckinley's dad, who was in the kitchen, if he could help shove the head on any further, but he offered a different solution. he took the head off and took out the neck joint and went to work. He cut the split part of the neck off with a real tiny bone saw! It made a scary noise and I covered the Sophina head's eyes and gritted my teeth. He tried trial and error with the neck joint. We didn't have a hot glue gun handy (I really need to pick one up!) and none of the glue was holding so he just decided to melt it together! It really surprised me when he set my doll body's neck on fire and the neck lit up more than he was expecting. I rushed to get the dress off for the rest of the surgery, but then I noticed it had a spot of blood, he was bleeding, he must have cut himself on the saw so he took care of it before continuing and Aunt Louise helped me get out the spot of blood before it stained, so the dress was wet and drying for the first half of the pictures and she is wearing a different dress.
Here she is with the head attached to the new body!
Ta-dah! The head doesn't really move because the joint is melted to the body (Also she has some light burns on her neck, battle scars.) I hadn't fixed her hair at all at this point, I just pulled it into very messy pigtails. The skin tone of the Sophina head actually looks perfect on this body, which is really strange because the heads were not even close to being the same skin tone, weird! Her neck is also a better size for the head after the split part was cut off. The proportions of head to body are also better. She looks like her head belongs on this body!
The Barbie head and Moxie body look considerably less good together. See how these skin tones don't match at all? I didn't like the Moxie body much, but the painted pink underwear are cute.
Here is her old body on top of her new body because I didn't have any before pictures! The old body is a lot smaller compared to the new one! (A lot smaller than it looks here, also ahh peg feet!)
Here is one of Fae dressed in a temporary barbie outfit I had next to my original Draculaura doll!
She was looking very good and her head was staying on wonderfully, the surgery was a success!
I picked the name Fae because I wanted something like Frankenstein because she is a bit like a Frankenstein monster herself, but I wanted something a bit cuter and more original! I decided on Fae! Starts with an F and means magical creature, close enough right? I think she really likes the name.
Here she is sitting on the counter! She sits very well and has decent articulation in her body, though her arm flexibility isn't too good, she can't touch her face. She doesn't have articulated ankles or wrists, but is much better articulated with this new body than with her old Moxie body. Later in the day I brushed out her hair with a wire brush as you will see.
The next morning I woke up, walked my cute doggy, and put Fae in her actual dress that had been drying after it's wash and she looks very cute in it.
It's hard to see, but here she is in her dress with her hair brushed out! See what happened to her hair! Yikes! That will need some extra work and maybe a boil rinse. The frizz is kind of endearing at some angles, but I plan to boil it and cut it evenly because her cut is a bit uneven in the back. I also want to give her some bangs.
Also as a bonus tip, I made those shoes! I didn't have any shoes that would fit her large flat feet so I made my own with the help of this video I HIGHLY recommend her doll craft videos! I made them with a box from a 12 pack of Dr. Pepper, clear school glue, black finger nail polish, and duct tape! I made a few mistakes, but I'm hoping the next pair of shoes I make will be better. (I thought these turned out pretty nice though!)
Here are a few more shots of my little Fae!
The little shoes I made and a little piggy I bought that day at the thrift store. CUTE!
I am very pleased with the results of this project! Stay tuned for more of my doll projects and reviews! What do you think of Fae? Tell me if you try a head switch like this!
This was the first time I've ever seen a Moxie girl up close and I think they are very adorable in person! They have sweet faces.
See you next time!

My New PINK Hair!
Hi everybody! Sorry to have been so busy, but I hope to get back into blogging soon! I do a lot more on tumblr lately and I will leave a link if you'd like to follow me there. Down to business! My hair!
These are some pictures before, I didn't have any RIGHT before so my hair is a bit longer in these than in the rest of the pictures. This is my natural color and I had never dyed my hair before so I was really nervous.
This is how my hair looked when we finished bleaching it! I was surprised that it looked pretty decent! I didn't think I would look very good as a blonde. Everyone at the house really liked it, it was more of a strawberry blonde, the pictures don't really show that.
BEHOLD THE FINISHED PRODUCT! (I'm wearing a night shirt.) I really like it! What do you lovely cuties think? I'm sure tomorrow will be filled with lots of Lala and Madoka closet cosplay!
We used Spat's Pink Fetish dye we picked up at CVS here is what the packaging looks like. I don't have my own picture of the box because we did the hair coloring very late and now it is almost 4am! So I'm a bit too lazy to get up to take the picture at the moment. >w<

I love the way it turned out, but it doesn't look much like the box, but I didn't properly bleach my hair because it was my first time and I was a bit afraid to bleach it any more than I did.
I hope to get back on the saddle and make way more meaningful blog posts soon!

Let's Join the Lolita Blog Carnival! (Episode 3- DIY Gift ideas!)
Dear Kitten Cotton Candy Bubble Gum Kids, (<3)
Another post for the wonderful Lolita Blog Carnival!
I really don't have many ideas for this particular topic because I am not currently the greatest at DIY projects (I wanted this topic to win, because I wanted to hear everyone else's ideas to help me!). I need to buy materials and that is just not possible for me right now. I do sit around watching a LOT of videos on how to make things some days though and that may be just enough to help you all with your gift making needs. It can be easier if all the links are put in one place!
With Christmas right around the corner you may be feeling the stresses of what you should get everyone you love. I know I am! With only 50 dollars to spend on everyone for Christmas, I'm going home for Christmas so I can't get a job until I get back. If your on a budget like me you may be wondering what you can do to see that smile on all your loved ones faces and if you thoughtfully make them something from your heart the smile is sure to grow even bigger!
I separated some different links to DIY tutorials into different levels of difficulty so it will be quicker and easier for you to find something at your skill level. I will also offer my own personal advice on each tutorial. Now, welcome to my secret world of cute tutorials!
EASY (Cheap, Little to no sewing)
♥Glass Bottle Charms!
★Fairy in a Bottle- More delicate wings could be easily made with tulle and wire! You could also glue on some sparkling shapes like hearts and stars onto your fairy wings. The body could be substituted with a bead or two, but the wire wings likely won't go on as well. A different shape could be made with the Polymer clay for a different kind of fairy look. This tutorial compares to this expensive charm on Etsy. If you would like to copy the look of this charm suspend your fairy in clear soap. Put half of the clear soap in your bottle then carefully place your fairy in and cover the rest with soap. If you want your fairy to be more secure you can combine the fishing line technique in the tutorial with the soap method (It just might get a little complicated I'd imagine, but I believe in you!). This fairy from etsy looks like it could have been made with tulle and wire wings and a fake pink pearl body. The charm could be replicated if that look is one you would rather have for your charm. If you use a clay fairy and want it's body to be sturdy you can bake it! Polymer clay is pretty easy to bake (or) and I've been wanting to try my hand at making polymer clay charms myself.
★Standard Easy Bottle Charm- This is very very easy, but still so cute! Your friends will love them, wouldn't you? Bottle charms will work for anyone! Just make sure the colors and bottle filling fit their own unique style and personality! So many ideas!
★Special Meaningful Bottle Charms- This is by far my favorite of the bottle charms. I remember having a fairy dust necklace when I was younger and I wore it all the time then cried when it broke. Something about the idea of magic touched my heart even if it was just glitter(which it wasn't!). Your friend will appreciate the fact that you were thinking of them when you made this adorable gift! The different ideas for a meaningful bottle charm are fairy dust, love potion, nightlock berries(The Hunger Games, or), fairy glow(just put it in a bottle and maybe add some glitter), some of your blood (lol not really :P), message in a bottle, dragon tears, Alice in Wonderland "Drink Me", Harry Potter potions and other magicalness (unicorn blood, Drink of Despair,Gillyweed,Polyjuice Potion, there are many many more possibilities and she has several on her channel here), the possibilities are endless! Just use your imagination and glue on some labels if you want!
♥ Polymer Clay Charms!
★Polymer clay can do anything! You can make something for everyone! Remember those bottle charms from earlier? You could use white glue or soap and white paint to make a bottle of "milk" and you could use polymer clay to make a chocolate chip cookie and just put them both on a key chain. Also, you could take your Alice in Wonderland "Drink Me" bottle and you could pair it with an "Eat Me" cookie for a complete set! Here I will share a few tutorials that may help you create different polymer clay charms. I'm putting them in neat and easy categories based on Lolita sub-styles, but you know your friends best and what would fit them the most. I will only provide a few examples of what you can make so you can have the joy of making your own charm or finding a tutorial that best works for you.
♥Sweet Lolita
Cute Scented Cookie Charms, Rainbow Macaroon Cake Charm, Bow Ring (Could also make a cupcake ring or whatever you want~)

♥Gothic Lolita

It would be fun for all of the above to make polymer clay friendship charms!
You can buy little cork bottles at Micheal's, Hobby Lobby, or online.(It may be good for key chains and jewelry charms if you can find a plastic version instead of glass so it is harder to break)
You can buy Polymer clay at the same places generally, here is a place to buy it online.

Let's Review Walmart.com! (Store Review Episode 2)
Dear Sparkling Wishbones,
I just received my order today from Walmart.com, it's been a very excited day! I ordered from them because a few cute T-shirts caught my attention and they were one of the few stores I could find that took a bank transfer. (I actually think yesterday Paypal finally fixed the issues with my account.~) Let's get started shall we?
The Packaging
I just received my order today from Walmart.com, it's been a very excited day! I ordered from them because a few cute T-shirts caught my attention and they were one of the few stores I could find that took a bank transfer. (I actually think yesterday Paypal finally fixed the issues with my account.~) Let's get started shall we?
The Packaging
This is the bag my order came in, not unlike Bodyline bags I've received. It was really touch to open and I ended up stabbing it with a pencil to open it, but at least you know your items won't fall out. It was very well sealed.
I'm not really sure why this piece of paper was really crinkled, it was just in the bag that said what was in my order.
The Order!!
Is that not a beautiful looking pile?
Let's start with the one I really did open first, Rainbow Brite!
I have to mention how neatly everything, but this top especially, was folded. It looked better than when you get them directly from the store. It was so soft and I was in for a surprise I wasn't expecting also.
This is the super cute front side they have pictures of on the website, and;
Look at the adorable back print that I didn't even know about! <3 It was such a nice surprise.
This one fits very well, maybe the best of the bunch! The sleeves are made a little longer than these 14/16 Walmart shirts usually are and that is the main problem I have with most shirts I get at Walmart. Here is a picture of this shirt worn, the skirt I bought is worn with every shirt so even though I haven't reviewed the skirt yet, I will very soon.
Just a little snap of me wearing it (plus the skirt) I have on my night clothes under it (a thick tank top and night shorts) I wanted to be able to change in the room~
I had to snatch up this Rainbow Brite shirt, it was such a cute 80s inspired fairy kei find! I couldn't believe they had her actually, is Rainbow Brite making a comeback in mainstream culture? Still available on Walmart.com and I believe in select stores also. (Mine is in a size 14/16 Girls)
On to the next one I opened!!
This one wasn't folded as good as the flawless Rainbow Brite shirt, but was still folded very nicely!
This shirt was the second very pleasant surprise I had. I almost didn't get this one because the darker shade of pink (I was looking to buy more fairy-kei-able shirts, so light pastels and 80s characters) This shirt stole my heart ever since I took it out of the package. I knew I made the right choice spending the 5 extra dollars to buy this. The chick is adorable with her glasses and her little bow and the message is perfect. That's what fashion is all about, expressing yourself. So I know think I was silly to consider not getting it, it's perfect for Fairy-kei despite the darker shade! (Plus the chick reminds me of a line of characters I designed for my Fairy-Kei clothing line I'm working on! <3) This shirt also fit very well, the second best fitting of the 3 shirts. (Rainbow Brite fit the best as I mentioned earlier.) This shirt is a girls 14/16 and I believe is still available online and possibly in select stores.
The bulges that look awkward are just from the thick tank top that I mentioned I was wearing underneath.
Next we have that skirt you keep seeing!
This one couldn't really be folded as perfectly as the shirts because of the ruffles, but it still felt so nice and fresh when it came out of the bag! <3
I'll admit right now, I love the majority of things Walmart puts out with Hello Kitty on it. It's not just because I like Hello Kitty (Who doesn't?) Sanrio type things tend to be made in a way so compatible with Fairy-kei. The light color along with the layer with tulle and stars under another regular skirt layer just makes it look so sweet. I actually have another Hello Kitty Walmart tutu similar to the start material. The star pattern looks about the same, but the other one is a hot pink while this is more of a baby pink. (I will have pictures in my post about shopping for fairy-kei at Walmart with pictures of the skirt I'm referring to.) I really like this skirt and you can see pictures of it in all of the pictures on this article because this skirt was the only bottoms I had in the order so I just wore it with all the tops for worn pictures. This skirt is being sold on both Walmart.com and in select stores I think and it is a size 14/16 girls. I wasn't sure if it would be too big but it fit my waist fine and has plenty of elastic still. My waist is about a 24 around I believe to give you an idea.
Last, but not least! (In fact I opened it last because I was saving my favorite for last!)
I was so excited I forgot to snap a separate picture of this one sitting in the plastic.
This shirt was the sole reason I ordered from Walmart.com in the first place. I saw it in our local Walmart and when we went back I wanted to get it, but it was gone! I decided once to look for it on the site and was able to find it and saw the advertisement for 97 cent shipping! I found they took bank transfers and not just Paypal and I was sold. I found a few other gems and made my order. I knew by looking at it these sleeves were made shorter so I wasn't surprised when this one fit the worst of the three, just in the sleeves mostly. No matter who wears these shirts the sleeves look short so I think it's just a design some Walmart shirts have. This shirt is exactly what I wanted. Something cute, pastel, and with an adorable design on the front. I actually had the pink Moshling on Moshi Monsters I believe (that's the game the characters on the shirt are from and it's one I play.) This shirt was the favorite with my friends, though my aunt really loved the Rainbow Brite shirt. (Who could blame her that one is so cute!) This shirt is one I've been very excited about and it lived up to my expectations well! The color on the website and the color in the actual shirt match very well. Walmart has done a great jobs with the color on the stock photos of the clothes I received. I can't wait to wear this shirt with fairy-kei coords, but I don't think I'll put it through the dryer, I'll just let it air dry. Here is this one worn;
I'm not a fan of the look of the shorter short sleeves on me, but I can easily pair this with a cute open jacket or something.
This is what I was left with in packaging when it was all opened. Not too bad.
Well that's my review! I give Walmart.com a 4.7 out of 5 for my experience today, the little I took off is for the weird short sleeves they do on their T-shirts, but that is my only complaint. Shipping was fast and cheap and everything lived up to my expectations completely. I am very happy with my order and if you have any individual sizing questions feel free to ask me. I will cover more about Fairy-kei at Walmart in a future post I've been planning.~ My next store review will be on Target.com I had a gift card and I already have something in the mail! See you next time Pretty Princesses (and Princes and everything else!)

Let's Go Trick Or Treating! (Improvised Halloween Costumes, Happy Halloween!)
Dear Cutie Oogie Boogies,
Happy Halloween!!! (uhh...sorta! Pretend it's still Halloween I had so much trouble with my sister's phone and getting the pictures we took from Halloween on my computer :( )
This year I wanted to go as the ever adorable and fantastic Draculaura from the wonderful like of Mattel dolls, Monster High. Though at the store if I wanted the full costume (a 14/16 in girls they had and a wig) I would of been set back at least 45 dollars (YIKES!!) I would rather spend that on clothes for all year! So I decided to think of something else. I put together a costume entirely with things I already owned! Let me show you...

This is the Draculaura costume I wore for Halloween! I have the doll that I carried around also. Let me tell you what I did. I looked through what I had and put together the closest thing I could to her actual outfit, I also had another outfit ready that I thought looked like something she might wear since of course people and monsters don't always wear the exact same outfit every time! I wore the outfit that looked like the doll I had since I thought the twinsies would be cute! For a Draculaura costume all you really need is a good mixture of pink and black in an adorable outfit! If you want a costume that looks like mine I'll tell you each outfit component I used.
Head: I actually picked up this pink pigtail headband from Goodwill since it was cute and charming and only a couple dollars, since my hair is fairly dark I just put it up in pigtails with my hair and it turned out pretty good, a lot better than spending 25 dollars on a cheap wig I would only wear a couple of times. If you don't have something like this, you could just get pink ribbon to tie in your hair or color strips of paper pink and put them in your hair. If your hair isn't dark you could get just black hair spray and then do the former instruction (Though I think buying black AND pink spray would be better in price than the wig, but I don't know for sure.) I added a bow even though she doesn't wear one because I thought it topped off the outfit well. I did simple makeup, just sunscreen and pink powder over it then drew a pink heart with sharpie on my cheek. My lips have a simple red, but you can't go wrong with pink, dark purple. or black lipstick. After that I wiped off a little off the bottom lip and drew on fangs with some of Megan's face makeup (You could use white eyeliner or anything you feel would work really.)
Neck: That is just a cute flowery shawl my aunt let me borrow for Halloween!~ You could use anything you want. I think a filly handkerchief or anything white and frilly would work great, actually anything white a splash of white is all you need so anything white you can find should work fine.~
Torso: I am wearing this pretty lacy black long sleeved shirt that, again, my aunt let me borrow. Over that I have a simple hot pink tank top from Rue 21. ( I actually think the black shirt was bought at Rue 21 too) Just whatever long sleeved (or short sleeved) shirt you can find should work, over that anything pink and with less sleeve (a hotter pink preferably) She wears a pink vest, or you could add white buttons to your pink top it would help.~
Bottom: I have a black tulle skirt borrowed from my sister under a white Bodyline petticoat that I almost never wear because it lost it's poof right away and isn't really cute enough to wear as a fairy kei tutu. If you have a white skirt, that would be perfect. Something white is the most accurate, but another color could be worn. I have a below picture of another version of this outfit with a different skirt.
Legs and Shoes: Just whatever you have should be fine. If you can find black tights and some kind of pink shoes. If you can't find black tights, that isn't really a big deal (she's wearing short fishnets anyway) you could use a different color tights, socks, or go without whatever you prefer. If this is for Halloween it can be harder to see your shoes when it gets dark and if you plan to be walking a lot you want something comfortable. This category is the easiest to not be perfect on. The shoes I have on are from Bodyline and the tights I think I got in a pack at Rue 21, I have all kinds of black tights that come packaged with my white and pink tights and I almost never wear them so this gave me a chance.
When picking an outfit take the weather into consideration! I was hot when the sun was out, but was perfectly cool once it went down. I live in Texas and it can still get pretty hot this time of year! <3
This is the same outfit with a different skirt! Skirt is from Goodwill~
This is me with Mckinley! All this costume he wore is a sharpied mustache ( I drew it on for him) 3d glasses with popped out lenses and a hat (normal clothes otherwise) He wasn't feeling well and didn't go trick or treating, but I wanted him to feel included. I made him a name tag also, it says Hi, my name is Mr. R Butts (He wanted it to say that so why not? XD) He went as a fancy pants fast food employee I think! Easy improved costume if you don't wanna spend money~!
Another picture of us in our costumes, also for a candy bag I just used my purse because I thought it matched and it was plenty big enough~
I went quite a few places this October! This is me with a group of friends we just threw together last minute this group costume idea. We went as kids on the Polar express and just wore night clothes a robe and carried stuffed animals! I brought my giant Cheer Bear, wore my big pink night shirt, frilly bloomers a borrowed robe thing, and my cute fluffy pink kitty slippers. I also just threw my hair up in cute pigtails~ Also, LOOK WE MET BATMAN :DD
Sadly, this was the best picture we got of Mckinley wearing his Clawd Wolf costume :( (Clawd is Draculaura's boyfriend) All he had was a wolf mask he cut the face out of and some nice clothes. (I actually went trick or treating twice this one rich neighborhood did trick or treating early and Megan had friends there that invited us. Mckinley went this time, but was sick on Halloween.)
We also met Tony the Tiger! We went to this little Halloween carnival thing. This was the day I wore the Draculaura costume with the peachy pink skirt and I actually won the best costume for kids 10 and up! I think it was more the smile and hopefully cheery look on my face that won it, rather than the costume itself. (I got a pink monkey doll and "winner" plastic metal thing, I was really happy to have won, haha!) Megan (In the purple shirt) went as a volley ball player which is a pretty easy improved costume too!
So there you have it! My improved, cheap, Halloween costumes this year! I hope this can help you for next year if you happen to want to go as anything I did this year~! <3 I hope your Halloween was super happy and you got a lot of candy, just don't get sick eating it all!!! <333333
Also, if you were wondering my guinea pig, Sugar, has started improving a lot! She can move on her own now, just not as well, but it's a start! I should resume blog entries after this one very soon.
