Let's Do The Fairy-Kei 30 Day Challange! (Back from Indiana, 5 questions in one)

Dear Magical Dancing Cupcake Fairies,
I am finally back on track after going back to Indiana to visit family for Christmas and my birthday (January 1st~). I arrived back in Texas about a week ago and have been settling in once again. I have been wanting to get back to my blog all week. I have a few small personal updates I would like to share, then I have 5 more days of the Fairy Kei Challenge.
~ I think Sugar, my guinea pig, is pregnant. When I got back she seemed to be morbidly obese. She wasn't really eating considerably more, but she was drinking a lot of water. Also, things seem to be moving in her stomach. We all still think Spice, her guinea pig companion, looks female, but just in case we did separate them.
~ I found another Rainbow Brite shirt at Walmart, but I left it in Indiana and need to wait for someone to send it to me before I have it. (>.<)
~ I spent a lot of time while in Indiana playing with the Japanese artificial singing program, UTAU. It's a lot of fun! I was thinking about making another hobby blog for it.
~ I just applied at the local Michael's, which is opening in March. I might get that job and am nervous, but very excited, please wish me lucks! (>U<b)

Day six: Your luckiest thrift-store find.
I would say anytime I find very cheap and cute shoes that I can fit in at a thrift store, that is about the luckiest find possible. I have found plenty of wonderful items I use often at thrift stores, but there are none I use as often as shoes. I can honestly say I am wearing thrift store sneakers or mary janes most of the time. I don't like wearing delicate, expensive, or easily ruined shoes on a daily basis so finding shoes that I can spend anywhere from 1-7 dollars on is great for everyday wear and I don't feel as guilty if something happens to them.
These are shoes I wear very often that I remember buying at Goodwill for about 7 dollars a long time ago.

(I also really enjoy finding cute backpacks, my weakness)

Day seven: 5 songs that remind you of Fairy-Kei.
~Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper
This song is easily my first pick when I want to get inspired for fairy-kei! It is so fun and freeing (and also dance-y, yes, very dance-y) This song truely embodies the spirit of Fairy-Kei for me and I just love Cyndi Lauper she is great!
~ Our Lips Are Sealed by The Go Gos
Another fun dance-y song from the 80s.
~ Love Is a Battlefield By Pat Benatar\
You may begin to see a pattern! A lot of my songs on my 'Fairy Kei Inspiration' playlist are girly 80s pop songs! I just happen to love them and they always bring Fairy-Kei to mind since it was based on the decade. This song also makes me think of 13 going on 30, I love that movie.
~ Pon Pon Pon By KYARY PAMYU PAMYU (>;U;< <33)
I love her so much!!!! Any of her music makes me think of fairy-kei pretty quickly~! She is so out there and unique and all her music is fun! It's not everyday I find music videos I can't look away from~ She is an artist, musically and fashion wise.
~ Magical Journey By Pinku Project
They are so sweet! Don't you just love Pinku Project? I also love supporting bands like this! It's always been my dream to start a fairy-kei and lolita themed band and it's so great that they did it!! If you don't know them please look them up!

 Jem and the Holograms http://www.last.fm/music/Jem+and+the+Holograms/+images/40319751
It was a bit difficult to just list five, for the most part I just picked five random ones that remind me of Fairy Kei. Some other music worth listing, Toybox (or other similar Euro Bubblegum Pop bands), Jem and The Holograms, Rupaul, and other music by the artists whose songs are listed above. To me fairy-kei is a fun and freeing fashion, so most of the music I picked is fun and freeing music about just having a good time and being yourself.

Day eight: How do your family and friends feel about the style?
picture from  http://caesar85-justdifferent.blogspot.com/
I know may be one of the lucky ones, but most of my friends and immediate family don't really care, some even like it. As for the ones that like it, they find it to be unique and different. It has the potential to make them smile and is usually always interesting to look at. I have had problems with many people not liking me because I'm a bit quirky, but I've always thought of being different and quirky as a real blessing. It helps me to see which people in my life truly do like me for me. Some people seem nice on the surface, but then will turn on you in a second when they find out your quirks. Since I literally wear many of my quirks on my sleeve, I have always had a fairly easy time weeding out true friends from those who are less true and are likely to abandon me at the drop of a frilly pink bow. I may have not had many friends growing up, but the ones I did have were loyal and easy to share secrets with.

Day nine: Your most treasured piece of clothing.
I REALLY need to get back into taking outfit pictures, I have used this outfit to demonstrate a point at least 3 times. Anywho~ This is me wearing my pink glasses and pink wig in an outfit!
This is a hard one. I tend to treasure all my clothing you see. For the purposes of Fairy Kei I would say the most useful items in my wardrobe are my pink prescription glasses and my pink wig. Both things just add a fairy-kei vibe to everything I wear and I just love it. I could wear one of my normal outfits with my regular hair (brown) and my old glasses (Square and mostly black) and the outfit just pops considerably less, but when I wear the same outfit with my big pink glasses and my pink wig I always tend to like the outfit at least 85% more. They have magic powers of 'kawaii'!

Day ten: How do you react to positive comments or people curious about your style on the streets?
"You wanna know about Fairy-Kei~?!?!?~ Sure! Come on let's be best friends and I'll show you all my favorite clothes and places to shop and you can borrow some of my clothes if you want to!!"- I would really do that. I need to keep myself on a leash. (XD')
http://angryanimebitches.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Smile-Precure-Ep-1-Img0032.png image location is here\

Possibly with a bit of over eager information spilling sometimes (regrettably XD). I am friendly about all kinds of comments, but the positive ones are obviously the easiest ones to react well to. I'm a nice girl at heart and also very naive. I'm usually accommodating when people want pictures, after all it's not everyday we see someone dressed so cute and different, right? I always like to see the good in people, so I view many comments as positive (even if others do not and maybe they are not positive after all) and I'm always excited to receive positive comments! When your work you put into your outfits is recognized it's so nice. If they are curious about my style I have to constantly tell myself not to be overly excited so I don't scare them away! (My excitable nature causes me trouble from time to time.)
These questions were fun! I just did the next five on the list, but I was really glad they ended up being fairly easy to answer questions! I'm glad to be back!! I should be gaining momentum with my posts very very soon! If you would like me to go into detail about anything mentioned here in another post please tell me and don't be shy to share your thoughts in the comments! (<3)

Let's Do The Fairy Kei 30 Day Challange! (Day 5. Favorite Places To Buy Fairy Kei! Mini Store Reviews)

Dear Sweetie Shorts,

Just a quick little post to get back into the 30 day challenge! I've been sick for about a week now, but I recently got some good news that really brought me out of that funk, I was accepted to the Lolita Blog Carnival! Yay! So expect posts related to that very soon.

As for this entry I am covering only places I have bought or acquired Fairy-Kei. It would be slightly unfair to talk about places I would buy my Fairy-Kei if I could. I should instead tell everyone where I actually do get my Fairy-Kei! <3 Let's Go!

Day five: 5 of your favorite places to buy your clothes.

(I suppose this counts as a mini store review. I'll do full store reviews on some of these places soon also!)

Bodyline

I love Bodyline! It is perfect when you wear both Fairy-Kei and Lolita, like me, and when you are on a budget! Sure they did have a raise in price recently, but they often have a 10 dollar fixed shipping rate which will usually make up for the price a little. I've heard of people buying overseas being hit with shipping up to 50 dollars! I could buy an entire dress on Bodyline for that! Bodyline also tends to have fairy quick shipping, I once had an order arrive overnight! Many of the Bodyline Panniers are not well suited for Lolita, but are perfect for Fairy-Kei! They offer extremely cheap Fairy-Kei tutus that are absolutely wonderful.

This is a tutu I have in light pink, but want in every single color! This is a perfect example of a Fairy-Kei tutu AND in my own experience this has worked for me as a Lolita "Petticoat" without ever deflating. I just had this pink one layered with a darker purple one of the same design. It has worked great for me in both Fairy-Kei and Lolita and has been a wonderful investment. I think it may have been 13$ or so when I bought it, not it is at 17$ and I would still say buy(If you like it that is)!http://www.bodyline.co.jp/bodyline/showTBPic.asp?name=/bodyline/photos/pan013-2.jpg?11/13/2012%209:23:00%20PM You can find it in the Bodyline "Pannier" section!
This isn't one I have, but it is one I want! They don't currently have this one in the store, but I think they may come back in stock. The first one I listed has been out of stock then came back, that's how I ended up with a dark purple one instead of another pastel colored tutu. (The reason I have this picture is because everything I list is coming out of my "Fairy-kei things I want to buy" folder!) I like every color combination of this one! So cute! From http://www.bodyline.co.jp/
This one I doubt I would buy at the current price and I wouldn't buy every color combination here. I would likely stay away from the ones that use darker colors, and the price is currently listed as 20. I may wait for the price to go down a few dollars before I go for this one, unless your in love! This one is sold out in many colors, but it is also listed under panniers of you want to take a look! http://www.bodyline.co.jp/bodyline/showTBPic.asp?name=/bodyline/photos/pan034-2.jpg?11/13/2012%209:36:06%20PM
Now this is one that I really really want! This particular one seems to be off the site right now, but it could be back and I do see it show up in the sales comms every now and then. It is usually under Jumper Skirt on Bodyline if you would like to keep an eye out for it's return! From http://www.bodyline.co.jp/

Bodyline also sells very nice wigs in a wide variety of colors! I hear very good things, but I have a Bodyline wig and can speak from experience!

I have this wig in "lpik", which is light pink. I actually bought mine from a seller online, but that color is also available on the site still! I love this wig and wear mine all the time! If you were thinking about buying it, go for it! It's a great wig for a very reasonable price. The wigs are located in "Cosplay" then "Wigs" http://www.bodyline.co.jp/bodyline/showTBPic.asp?name=/bodyline/photos/w035-2.jpg?11/13/2012%209:49:22%20PM

Shoes are some of Bodyline's most popular items! I have this pair in pink and also reviewed them on an earlier post. They are 40 dollars and very cute!http://www.bodyline.co.jp/bodyline/showTBPic.asp?name=/bodyline/photos/shoes256-2.jpg?11/13/2012%209:56:30%20PM Don't forget the fairy-kei-able shoes located in the "Punk" section! They usually have cheaper shoes like adorable 7$ sneakers perfect for Fairy-Kei! Right now they don't seem to have them, but they could always come back in stock or you could check sales comms.

Once you have your big items in your cart, if you have a few more dollars to burn you can add in some accessories. They have fake eyelashes for 1$, cute bow headbands, and may kinds of accessories located in "Sundries". You may want to buys tights, leggings, and socks elsewhere unless you fall in love with a pair or find some that are cute and reasonably priced! There you have some of, but not all, my Bodyline Fairy-Kei picks, but don't just rely on my list, go pick out some things you love for yourself and have fun!

Walmart

I recently reviewed Walmart.com very positively! The reason for that is Walmart is a very good place to find some cheap Fairy-Kei items. The downside is that it is usually only helpful to those who can fit in kids clothes, though if you can't all is not lost! You can still find cute accessories and buy shirts to use for the design. Cut it off in a design and put a lace borderline, then attach it to a plain shirt that does fit you. You could also use the cute material to turn into bows or anything you wanted. If you can fit into the kids clothing it can be very easy to find Fairy-Kei gems at Walmart! I recently found a Rainbow Brite shirt there for just under 7 dollars. Check out my Walmart.com post if you would like to see my latest haul and stay tuned for a post about "Fairy-Kei at Walmart" where I will go into detail about this.

Goodwill/Thrifting

I think this may be my post used method for finding Fairy-Kei items! It is also the most fun. You never know what your going to find and it can be a complete Fairy-Kei wonderland at times! Goodwill can be a bit pricey for a thrift store, but is still cheap as cheap gets usually! I actually found a lot of items for Fairy-Kei at a local thrift store that sold everything between 25 cents and 5 dollars usually. I found perfect items that I picked up for around a dollar. I won't get into too much detail, because I will be doing a more in depth "Fairy-Kei at Goodwill" tutorial later! Goodwill is usually where I find my Fairy Kei shoes. I wait until they have something cute in my size then I pounce! My favorite thrifted pair of shoes cost around 7 dollars and I wear them all the time!

Locally/from a seller

When buying from someone in your local Fairy-Kei or Lolita community! Since you live close you save a bundle on shipping when you buy from someone close. You can arrange a time to meet and just exchange money for an item, exercise caution when doing this! If you aren't a member of a Fairy-Kei or Lolita community, then search Live Journal or Facebook for one. If one does't exist, make one and hope for the best! When buying from a seller that isn't local there is still shipping, but if they are in the US and are selling you something at a reduced price that they bought overseas, the shipping will be significantly less and will barely matter thanks to the reduced price. I recently bought a Bodyline wig (mentioned earlier) in perfect condition for 15 dollars shipped, it is listed as 17 on Bodyline without shipping. Buying from sellers can be very beneficial!

Rue 21 Discount Rack

Rue 21 is not the best place to buy Fairy-Kei, but they have sales and discounts that can't be ignored and are worth a look! It can be harder to make Fairy-Kei outfits out of things bought at Rue 21, but the challenge is half the fun! I have a post on Fairy-Kei at Rue 21 in the works also that will show how I use things I bought at Rue 21 in my Fairy-Kei wardrobe so stay tuned for that soon (Fairly soon)!

I missed you all while I have been sick and I'm looking forward to coming back with a bang! This post ended up being longer than I thought it would be which makes up for the fact that this is only one Fairy-Kei Challenge question. See you next time!

Healthily (mostly) Yours,

I am going to need to pass on day three until I can actually do that (:( ) Right now we're staying with aunts while our house is being worked on and I sort of share a tiny room with two other people and it's not really my house, so, I try to keep the personalizing to a minimum.~ I still wanted to do a few days since I was gone a while while Sugar was ill. Let's start with 4 that one sounds like a lot of fun! Let's go!

Day four: 5 of your style-icons.

1. Let's start with an obvious one for me, a girl who needs no introduction in the fairy kei world.

She may have already left Fairy-kei for the most part, but the legacy she left behind will live on and continue to help many girls just getting into the fashion. Pastel Ai gave Fairy-kei a voice for me and I'm sure many other girls. She made it a more friendly and relatable fashion. Her bubbly and charming personality and her amazing fashion sense made me want to watch her videos again and again and always made me smile! Sure I was sad the day I learned she wanted to leave fairy-kei(again, only for the most part), but now I know that no matter what she has imprinted the fashion forever and she has left a standing impression on me. She was who I looked up to starting in fairy-kei, I looked at her and thought to myself how I would love to be like her. Pastel Ai is someone who has been able to leave her mark on this fashion just by being her cute and fun self! That is always been a personal goal of mine too, actually! Hopefully I can succeed in my idols footsteps, eh?~

2. Look who it is! It's Princess Peachie!

You said it Peachie! (I found the picture here http://cutebacon.tumblr.com/ I just googled Princess Peachie! XD)

Sure I don't have a lot of fully "fairy-kei" picture influences here, but I would feel wrong not listing Peachie. Peachie is someone I look up to, not just for fashion inspiration, but for just about everything. If I honestly had to choose one person I admire at this moment more than anyone else, it's Peachie! I have said a lot of this before, but I've meant it then and I mean it now. Peachie is honest, sweet, kind, hard-working, and just plain adorable! I mean, maybe since I don't know her well personally I may have an idealized version of her in my head, but I'm convinced the way I see her is mostly the truth. I know she has so many fans, but she took time to talk to me back when I talked to her and she took time to comment long and detailed thank yous whenever I drew her something. It goes without saying that Peachie has style also, of course. She rocks Bodyline better than anyone I've ever seen and I think they should pay her for all the positive advertising she's done for them, but that's just my personal opinion. I don't want to gush too much and I want to keep all of these about the same length, but Peachie is my idol in everything. It's not just fashion. Peachie is someone I look up to in every way. Peachie is someone who always makes me smile, and Peachie is someone that I had to mention in this list! No matter what she's gone through she seems to always come out of it strong. (If she ever reads this I hope she knows what an inspiration she is to me and so many others. I wish I could say I'm her biggest fan, but that's not fair to everyone else so we can all equally be her biggest fans, kay?~) Plus, she did say in one of her videos that she was into fairy-kei I think, so that makes this completely on topic! <3

3.  It's Mio!~ Mio BabyLove

I grabbed the picture from here, again just googled her name. http://babydoll-princess.blogspot.com/2010/08/fairy-kei.html

Another iconic name in fairy kei! If you search fairy kei I don't doubt you'll see Mio all over the place! Her style is amazing and it's near impossible to deny! I fell for Mio's style when I first watched her video of her dress-up time! Her video is just so sweet and adorable and fun to watch, I could watch it over and over again! She is the kind of girl who's room and closet any aspiring fairy-kei girl would want to get their hands on~! She seems to have the qualities of being both sweet and edgy and just has something different, something special, that make her always interesting no matter what it is she does! Whether it's a video or a post in her blog I always love to hear what Mio has to say!~ <3

4. Here is someone I recently discovered, Serepuff!

I have been going absolutely crazy for her blog lately! She has easy to understand tutorials that are so creative and useful! She also has a very unique style and she does a lot of thrifting for her fairy-kei gems (like me <3) She's someone I am just learning about, but I'm already very excited to be a follower of her blog. She also introduced me to uchuu kei (which I will forever associate with her.) I would love to give that a try. She also is one of the only people that has a fairly regularly updating blog that I can relate to. I can relate to her and her posts and I'm very glad! <3 I wish I had a little more to say about her, but right now I only have that she is very impressive and innovative and I can't wait to see all the things she creates in the future! <3

5. The one, the only, Tavuchi/Tabuchi (I've seen it both ways so I wanted to make sure I put both, just in case.)

I used to have one of those baby strollers when I was younger, ahh <3 Found here, google http://kitten.buzznet.com/user/journal/17227272/fashion-profile-sayuri-tabuchi/

She is considered the founder of fairy-kei, though according to this, she never actually referred to the fashion as Fairy-kei. She is so adorable and her adorable look can't be over looked! She is the creative reason fairy-kei exists! She is the founder of Spank!, Spank! Me, and Ticket to Darling. She is easily one of the most important people to the fairy-kei fashion. So much of my taste in clothes seems to come from her. She has inspired a lot in me, like my love for big cute glasses with my fairy-kei. They seem to go hand in hand for me and I usually don't think a fairy-kei outfit is complete without a pair of big glasses! No matter what she's wearing she always manages to be cute and unique. She is a unique individual and she is a great inspiration to me! <3 (I of course admire many more than this, but the challenge called for just five of them this time.~)

All of these girls are wonderful and innovative and have affected my own style as time has passed. I hope they don't mine my using their pictures, I just thought it would be good to pair the name with a face~ ( :) ) If anyone has a problem with their picture being used just tell me and I will take care of it immediately. Thank you all for being inspirations to me and so many other girls!

This is the only one I'm going to do right now. I'm running on no sleep, I'm expecting a package today and I'm very excited! I'm also waiting to hear from the Lolita Blog Carnival! (Fingers crossed?~)

Anywho, I'll see you next time! I might take a nap or something fun like that. :DD

Twitchily Yours, (I think that may be from the lack of sleep! <3)

Let's Do The Fairy-Kei 30 Day Challange! (Day 2. How I got into Fairy-Kei you ask?)

Dear Pastel Pumpkins,

Day two: Why and how you got into Fairy-Kei.

Well, I am also a Lolita and was a Lolita first. being a Lolita ended up opening so many doors to all kinds of different fashions. The only sub style of Lolita I was really interested in dressing was Sweet (The fairy, OTT, deco kind of sweet~) So, when I found Fairy-Kei you can imagine that it would be and was a perfect match! At first I was just a closet Fairy-Kei, trying not to lose sight of Lolita in the process of adopting another fashion. My Fairy-Kei then just consisted of dancing around in a cute T and my cutest pinkest Lolita pannier! (I still do that a lot of the time XD) Now I've branched out to making my Fairy-Kei coords more wearable and leaving the house in them. (Wearable meaning not just a tutu and T-shirt, seeing as if I left the house in that I would feel rather exposed. >.>)

Simple outfit I wore out one time (XD) I had a jacket I wanted to wear with it to make it look better, but it was way too hot! I felt like this post needed some pictures and color, it was too naked :P~

Fairy-kei is cute and colorful and as I've said before what's not to love (>u<)

Spookily Yours, (Who here is looking forward to Halloween?)

Let's Do The Fairy Kei 30 Day Challange! (Day 1. Likes and Dislikes)

Dear Cutie Popples,

(I found this today and decided to give it a try! I tried to do the Lolita one once and never did get it finished so I hope I can stay on top of this one!) ..(Oh! And if anyone knows the source of the challenge I would love to credit them!)

☆ Day one: 5 things you like and 5 things you dislike about Fairy-Kei.

I actually have a lot I like about  Fairy-kei! It may be a little harder to think of 5 whole things I don't like because I tend to prefer thinking positive about things, especially things I like!~

Likes

Awwwww~ What's not to love about Fairy-Kei!?~ Photo from Pastel Ai

+ I love how cute it is! I just smile when I see girls dressed up in it, when I dress up in it, when I think about it, It just makes me really happy! I love reasons to smile and be happy and I think everyone should have them.

+ I love how it really fits with my personality! How the lists of traits that may belong to a Fairy-Kei girl tend to belong to me just make me giggle.

+  I love how it's made me rediscover all the things I loved growing up to find I love them just as much now.

+ I love how it helps to make me feel like I have a purpose, like the days when I'm in the store and people looking at me smile as if seeing something so out of the ordinary made their day, or how when I put together really cheap coordinates it just makes me giddy to help other girls do the same thing!

+ I love how, in Fairy-Kei, I can shop anywhere with hopes of finding all the things I need for a full fairy kei outfit! (I can't shop online right now because I'm having paypal troubles, so I need to be able to shop fairly locally.) I have made several outfits from the clothes I bought at Goodwill a few days ago and a lot of my Fairy-kei comes from Goodwill! What I love about goodwill is that they don't sell anything specific. You can get just about anything there, old or new styled, and it is all arranged by color! Fairy-Kei can always work for me any day, no matter where I shop, because it is such a flexible style!

+I love... wait oh dear... we already hit 5 didn't we?  Oh well on to the dislikes :( I'm gonna have to listen to so much fun Cyndi Lauper music after this to wash away all the negative energy. ( :) )

Dislikes

Do you ever walk through a stre and see the little kid and baby clothes and think, now why can't they make that in my size!?http://www.candykidsboutique.com/assets/images/PinkRufflePettiDress.jpg

- I suppose I don't like how I can never really find the pastel shades in my size in the mainstream stores. Sometimes I fear what people will say when my coordinates aren't completely pastel since that is a huge part of the Fairy-Kei style. If I could order online the first thing I would pick up would be several cute pastel T-shirts and cutsews! <3

- I don't like how I don't have enough money to buy all the Fairy-Kei in the world ): ... is that really  a dislike about Fairy-Kei?....Close enough :)

- I wish the community could be as strong as the Lolita community. I don't know if maybe a lot of girls don't wear Fairy-Kei that often or maybe there just aren't as many Fairy-Kei girls yet as there are Lolita girls. I just would like to see more Fairy-Kei meet-ups, they seem like they could be so much fun! (If your a Texan Fairy-Kei girl too, tell me in a comment :) )

- I sometimes wish I could find more blogs to follow on blog spot that regularly update and inspire me!~ (If you know of a few please let me know!)
